According to several sources around the internet, Nobuo Uematsu‘s score for the not-yet-released Final Fantasy XIV game has been leaked. Apparently, the 72-track score was ripped off of the alpha version which was recently distributed to select testers. This is also coming on the heels of another recent leak of Sonic 4.
This is an unfortunate blow to Uematsu and Square Enix who have always made the soundtracks to their games a large part of the attraction to the series.

well if you release a build to players, be it Alpha or closed Beta, someone’s gonna make a game-rip.
But yeah, still not cool.
Craziness. I don’t know if I want to spoil this one just yet. 72 tracks sounds like about 3-discs or so. Should be awesome!

I would say assemble a beta testing team within the company so that no one would do this.
This is just disrespectful to Nobuo…
Well, I’m not sure why so many people make a fuss over this in particular. Wasn’t the gamerip (it’s the recording, strictly speaking) of FFXIII made and floated over Internet as soon as the demo was released, for instance? I’d rather be happy with being able to hear one of the upcoming releases and sample the one I’m going to buy at such an early stage. I think an insult to Uematsu (and SE) is, if any, not to buy a soundtrack, but do all of us really purchase everything Uematsu has composed so far and never commit any illegal downloading in our life?
I’d check out info leaks and photo leaks and watch video leaks all day. I’d even play a somehow pirated version of the game if that was even possible.
But I’m not gonna spoil the tunes. Thats gonna be epic when you first hear it in the game. Just wait for it!
It’s very simple – people cannot buy what Square-Enix do not sell. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s loved the leaked OST and is now eagerly awaiting the official release.
