I’m somewhat of a stickler for convention, so I will say I’m not a fan of the album title (what was wrong with Piano Collections Final Fantasy I – II – III?), but I do admit that the name has me intrigued. Yes, I’m referring to the piano album celebrating the first three games in the series that we at OSV (and especially Patrick for offering the question) will be taking credit for suggesting the idea to Izumi Tsukushi and Akio Shiraishi two years ago [2].
Does the opera suggest that the album will tell a tale, and that the pieces will somehow be linked in some way? We’ll hopefully find out soon. What we do know, thanks to VGMdb [3], is that Hiroyuki Nakayama will be the performer and that it will be out on February 29, 2012 for 2,800 Yen.

Strange name or not, this certainly has gotten me intrigued. Always loved the piano collections.

I’m really hoping for an arrangement of “Eternal Wind” from III. That song sounds gorgeous even on the original NES.

Agreed with Casey, “Eternal Wind” is one of the best themes ever… done properly on piano it could be amazing. There are a lot of great songs, and I hope this CD is packed out to like 70 minutes of music. A battle medley would be nice too. 🙂
And Casey … you know what I want from you. It’s not your call, but man, FFXII Piano is all we need now to complete the circle of FF piano love!

BTW – (not sure if this is okay to post in these comments but…) anyone know of a way to get the “Tour de Japon” DVD, or a copy of it at least? I’ve written Nobuo a few times trying to buy one.
My 2-year old daughter LOVES the music as much as I do.

Oh wow, awesome! And a town and battle medley! I kind of expected a few medleys since the NES themes are relatively short. Great selection of tracks.
And Patrick, I’m still keeping hope 🙂
