McCreary to Fill Another Dark Void Composing Socom 4

[1]

Bear McCreary, composer of Dark Void [2], Dark Void Zero [3], and Battlestar Galactica, announced on his blog that he will be composing the music for Sony’s upcoming SOCOM 4. Featuring over eight hours’ worth of original music, SOCOM 4 is a franchise reboot that will feature Playstation Move integration.

From his Battlestar Blog [4]: “Ever since I was a kid, I’ve dreamt of a video game score that would feel as if it were being composed specifically for each player, adapting and shifting perfectly to capture the mood of the individual gamer. Thanks to the powerful technology available today, and the talented artists and programmers at Sony and Zipper, I was able to write a score that fulfills this promise.”

I am looking forward to McCreary’s contribution to the game and series. This may be exactly what this franchise needs to be relevant again.

It’s always nice to see a composer fulfilling his or her dream. As a composer, I really get immense satisfaction in attending live classical performances of my works.

Best of luck to Bear McCreary in his future projects.

8 hours of Bear? Huh?! I think that’s more Bear tunage than I currently own, and that’s including BSG 1-4+Razor/Plan, T:SSC, Caprica, Dark Void…good lord. 8 Hours. Gotta wonder how much of that will make the official OST.

I know I promised to play Dark Void but it just didn’t happen, and I still love the soundtrack. I think the same may apply here…
