Mirror’s Edge Is Still Alive Contest: Win The Game For PS3 Or A Physical Copy Of The Remix EP

[1]

That’s right, thanks to the good folks over at Nettwerk Music Group, you can win yourself a copy of the game for PS3 or a physical copy of the Still Alive – The Remixes album that David reviewed [2] a couple months ago. Previously thought to be a digital-only release, EA Recordings and Nettwerk have printed a limited run of promotional copies, making this a rare opportunity indeed!

So, how do you win? Well, I was giving this some thought, and I’ve noticed that a lot of people are fussy about how the Mirror’s Edge title track, “Still Alive,” has the same name as another popular song from a popular game that you’ve probably heard about!  So how about you tell us what they should have called the Mirror’s Edge title track instead!  Simply reply with a comment offering up your alternate song title, and we’ll pick the two best (or funniest, etc.) on February 13, with the winner having their pick between the game or the album, and the runner-up getting what’s left  . Looking forward to seeing what you come up with, so good luck!

Did you enjoy the Mirror’s Edge in-game soundtrack? Do you think the Mirror’s Edge The Remixes album was any good in terms of commercial remixes that we’ve been talking about lately?

Not the best suggestion, but I might as well take the first crack at it: “No Regrets”

I would’ve called the track “Worldender”.

How about “Okay, let’s try this jump again… Ah! Missed. Again. Wait, I totally made the jump that time, what the..? Okay, everything’s all lined up, any wind? no? good. one… two… THREE…. Yay. I Miss. AGAIN.”

That sort of title might get clipped in most media players, but I think it really captures the true essence of the game.

I would go for the following title: ‘ I’m a Runner ‘

Toujours en Vie.

The confusability is not cool indeed; it’s not like there are tons of game songs so that all relatively simple titles were already used. I just hope it was not intentional.

As for an alternate title: “Not Dead Yet”
Same meaning, although somewhat macabre hehe…

I´m probably not going to be part of the contest since I´ve been published on OSV. But I just thought I would contribute my own title anyways:

Challenging Gravity

I’ve spent the whole day trying to think up of a clever name and all i’ve come up with is the following while trying to capture what I thought and felt while I watched the video:

“Looking through the other side of the looking glass while I see you inside of me in pain and agony while I try to save you but Im a feeling a little lazy today so maybe Ill do it later or maybe tomorrow we’ll see what happens oh hey I hear theres a sale at the mall today Ill drop by there when I go to the store do you want anything? I think we’re out of milk what? no? Im sure we’re out, let me check. Oh I see there’s still some leftovers in the fridge…”

“Jump By Faith and Not By Sight.”

I’d say “The Theme From Mirror’s Edge” is pretty straightforward. 😛

Or “Still Alive (Not That One Song From That Other Video Game).”

In all seriousness though, the chorus doesn’t leave a lot of other choices for the title. “I’m Still Alive” I think would be the best practical choice to distinguish it from both “the Portal song” and Pearl Jam’s “Alive.” “Can’t Apologize” is a decent alternative though.

After hearing the song and watching the music video I’ve come up with…

‘See The View From Here’

#20 Comment By Gilgamesh On February 8, 2009 @ 12:13 pm

How about, “BISCUITS AND GRAVY!”

#21 Comment By Boco On February 8, 2009 @ 3:02 pm

A new title? How about this:
“Still Hot, Still Kickin’ Ass!”

I mean, that’s what she does, right? 🙂

“Faith”

Simple, relevant, and the central character of the game.

#23 Comment By Derek Kan On February 12, 2009 @ 3:37 pm

Oh, and some random ones just for fun:

Urban Schoolyard
Faith In Cement
I Jump From Really Tall Buildings
I Need Medical Attention
The Arthritis In My Knee
I Make It Look Easy
Faith In Gravity
Gravity Sucks, But Getting Kicked In the Face Sucks Harder
Pimps, Hoes, and Faith
Believe In Faith
Jackie Chan and Me
Faith No More
Refrigerator Blues
Understanding Faith
What’s Faith Got To Do With It
Blind Faith, But She Ain’t Blind
Faith Is the Last Thing You See Before I Break Your Neck
How Do You Like Them Apples
Faith Kicked My Ass

Haha, now you see why I just stuck with “Faith”. =P
