Original Donkey Kong Country Composers Contribute to OverClocked ReMix’s Serious Monkey Business

[1]

OCReMix is busy with their next big project these days, Serious Monkey Business, which is the follow up to the 2004 project Kong In Concert. As the first project covered the soundtrack of Donkey Kong Country, Serious Monkey Business will be giving Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy’s Kong Quest the OCR treatment, and they’ve assembled quite a list of artists to lend their talents. Sixto, virt, Joshua Morse, Prince of Darkness and zyko are a few of the names signed up for this project, but the most exciting artists might come as quite a surprise. Dave Wise, Grant Kirkhope and Robin Beanland are scheduled to arrange a song as well. That’s right, the original composers of the game will return to arrange their own music 14 years after the original release!

The project leaders, Bahamut and Geoffrey Taucer, have expressed interest in printing physical copies this time for release, and are asking for donations to help cover for printing costs and other production aspects. While OCR projects in the past have often been a hit-and-miss deal, most recently with Final Fantasy IV: Echoes of Betrayal, Light of Redemption [2], this seems to be most promising with a great cast of artists, and the involvement of the original composers. If you are interested in helping out with donations and read more about the project, head over to OCRemix’s official discussion board [3] for the project.

With that said, is there any game series you would like to see a remix project of in the future?

Can’t wait for this. Even though I’m used to disliking 99% of the songs of the OCRemix porjects (Project Chaos being an exception), this sounds really promising. Also, we need a friggin Banjo Kazooie album, with xoc doing all the songs if possible haha. I’d pay BIG for that.

Amazing what history OCRemix has looking back nearly ten years after their initial release. I guess the last thing is a cooperation with a Japanese composer then OCRemix would have reached everything what a fan remixing site can reach.

Looking forward to the release!

Ya can’t get more legit than having the composers in on the project. David Wise is my hero.

I hope this album is awesome. Stickerbrush Symphony, I hope to hear you in a whole new way. SEXY.

Well you’re in luck with Stickerbrush – Joshua Morse did a nice rendition of it.
