If you’ve been listening to their recently re-released EP and new remix album as much as I have, you’ll be pleased to hear that New York chip-rock duo Starscream dropped a huge update yesterday on their blog, announcing a new album, a new EP, physical releases for their current digital EPs and more. Here are the details, straight from the blog:

First off, we are about to record an EP of, “new old stuff.” This will EP will be four songs, about half an hour long and consists of material written before and during the time in which we wrote, “Future, and It Doesn’t Work.” The title of the EP will be unveiled soon, but what we can tell you now is that the EP will be released for free IN LATE SEPTEMBER through Bandcamp with donations greatly appreciated

In December, we will be recording our first proper full length record. Given we raise enough money and interest, this album is intended to be released as a 2xLP, or double 12” record with lots more, as of now undisclosed packaging goodies. This album will consist of what we feel thus far is some of our strongest material and that makes us eager to get it under production so we can share it with all of you.

The group has also revealed pictures of the gorgeous packaging for the physical releases of The Space Years and Future, And It Doesn’t Work, as well as new merch like a customizable T-shirt designed by illustrator and pixel artist Alex “Enso” Bond, all of which are now for sale at their web store. Hopefully by now you’ve had a chance to check out both of the band’s superb EPs. If not, you really, really should because the duo is producing some of the most captivating 8-bit compositions out there. Read all about them in our review of The Space Years.
