Wow, it’s been forever since I’ve heard anything about Prodigy. I liked them in high school, and still find myself confusing them with The Prodigy from time to time. Well, YouTube poster Jim Pavloff has created an interesting 10-minute tutorial video recreating the track in Ableton using the original samples that Prodigy used to create the track.
Granted, I doubt you or I could ever do something like this, as you need a lot of technical know-how to do all the modifications that this guy does to the samples. Also, there is some fast-forwarding that occurs throughout the video, so it really would take longer than 10 minutes. It’s still cool to see such a widely known track recreated before your eyes on YouTube!

Wow, this one is blowing my mind for sure, thanks for posting it! Ok, The Prodigy is my all time favorite band. You really must be confused if you confuse Prodigy with The Prodigy because they’re the same. It’s just that in “The Fat Of The Land”, they ditched the “The” part because of the logo’s design, but they’ve always been The Prodigy all the time.
Check out their latest album “Invaders Must Die” because it’s really awesome and full of blasting energy. You might be interested in the latest re-release of the album which is a 2CD + DVD set, it also comes packed with a thick booklet full of really cool pictures. By the way, there’s a live video on the DVD when they played last time in Bilbao and, as I was in the front row , I appear on it!
Used to be a fan of the band, but Invaders Must Die was such a disappointment. :/
Gives you a whole new respect for Liam, in that software like this didn’t exist at the time and imagine doing this on the Akai hardware… definitely more than 10 minutes of work. 🙂
Really? I’d like to hear why. I wasn’t 100% happy with the track Invaders Must Die when they released it as a free digital download single, but it grew on me and now I like it a lot. Tracks like Omen and Take Me To The Hospital for me are awesome, but I really like every track on the album.
If I had to call an album a disappointment, that would be Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned, but in the end, I liked a lot most of the tracks, so it was just disappointing as a 7 years late follow up to The Fat Of The Land.

😉 Glad I could contribute in such a not expected way. It was really cool to listen to, I figured a lot of music of this style might be simple to recreate but I really don’t know much about tracking. AND I also know that some kinds of tracking can be REALLY complicated. So… there you go.
Cool, I used to be a huge Prodigy fan too and still have a lot of their old singles from the album “Experience” like “Wind it Up” and “Outer Space.” I haven’t heard Liam’s more recent stuff though. The last album I liked was “Fat of the Land.”
@IkariDC: No, Prodigy and The Prodigy are different groups. The Prodigy is a techno group. They’re also very good.
