While it’s been a long time in the making (Tommy told me back in 2006 that it would be released “by the end of the year”), the VGL CD is finally here. It went up on iTunes today in the UK with a physical and digital US release to follow on July 24 to coincide with their San Diego performance. It was also announced that bonus tracks will be released ocassionally throughout the coming months.
I know a lot of people have been complaining about the altered track list, so I just wanted to make a brief comment. Obviously Tommy and Jack wanted to include some of the other popular segments from the show, but we likely have some stingy game companies (who will go unnamed) to thank for these omissions. I’m happy to see, however, that two of my favorite segments from Civilization IV and Medal of Honor made it onto the album. Now we’re just waiting for that DVD that you promised us Tommy!
